STAFF DURBAR

A Staff Durbar was held on Wednesday, 10th September 2025, at Brennan Hall for all Staff of the Authority. The purpose of the gathering was to engage with a tax expert from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on issues relating to tax computation and its implications for staff.

The Director-General, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, explained the reason for the delay in the payment of August salaries. He noted that the Authority had been in discussions with the GRA to resolve certain discrepancies regarding the taxation of staff income. He further extended his sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the delay.

Representing the GRA, Mr. Bright Osei, who is the Taxpayer Supervisor, delivered a detailed presentation on the tax laws - Act 896 (2015), outlining who qualifies to be taxed and what constitutes taxable income. He explained that allowances such as rent, fuel, overtime, and other benefits which were previously untaxed would henceforth attract tax.

These changes are expected to take effect from September salaries, making this educational engagement necessary to keep staff well informed.

The Durbar provided staff with clarity on the new tax requirements and the way forward.
