CWEIC DELEGATION ENGAGE NLA ON STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

The management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) held a high-level meeting with officials of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) to explore potential areas of collaboration aimed at driving investment and economic growth in Ghana.

Welcoming the delegation, the Director General, Mr. Abdul-Salam, expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that the collaboration would provide the necessary platform for the Authority to pursue its long-term vision and create value for the Ghanaian economy.

Mr. John Appiah, Head of Missions for CWEIC, explained that the Council was established by the 56 Heads of Government of the Commonwealth to serve as the business arm of the organisation. He highlighted its mandate to promote trade and investment across member states and further underscored the significance of the partnership, stressing that the NLA, under its current leadership, it was well positioned to benefit from the Council's vast network.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Lord Jonathan Marland, Chairman of the Council, applauded the resilience of the Ghanaian economy and called on the private sector to actively promote the country as a prime investment destination. He emphasised the importance of businesses playing their part in championing Ghana's attractiveness to investors, while pledging CWEIC's commitment to facilitate international partnerships that will unlock opportunities.

Mr. Lord Marland described CWEIC as a unique organisation bridging business and politics, while facilitating swift, practical solutions for its partners. He commended Ghana's current economic growth trajectory, noting that the Council was ready to support initiatives such as the government's 24-hour economy policy through technical expertise and global networks.

The engagement also discussed broader Commonwealth priorities, including youth employment, climate change, and innovation. Mr. Lord Jonathan Marland encouraged Ghanaian institutions to invest in initiatives such as technology incubators to empower the younger generation, who represent the majority of Africa's population.

The meeting concluded with a call for stronger collaboration between Ghanaian institutions and the CWEIC to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, and development.
