GBESE MANTSE SHARES KPOKPOI WITH DIRECTOR-GENERAL IN CELEBRATION OF HOMOWO FESTIVAL.
As part of the ongoing Homowo Festival, the Protocol Director, Rev. Eric Nartey on behalf of the Gbese Mantse, His Royal Majesty Nii Ayi-Bonte II, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General - Mr. Mohammed Abdul Salam, to share in the spirit of the season.
The Homowo Festival, celebrated by the Ga people of the Greater Accra Region, is a time of thanksgiving and remembrance of their triumph over famine. Central to the celebration is the preparation and distribution of "kpokpoi", a traditional dish made from maize and palm oil, which symbolizes unity, abundance, and ancestral reverence.
During the visit, "kpokpoi" was presented to the Director-General of the Authority, reinforcing the cultural bond between the Ga Traditional Area and the NLA. The gesture was not only symbolic of peace and unity but also a demonstration of the mutual respect and collaboration between traditional leadership and the NLA.
The Director General, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Salam, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Authority's commitment to supporting cultural heritage and fostering strong community ties the DG also used the opportunity to wish them a successful celebration.
